When supports are in place, older adults can live safely at home, enjoy their life in familiar surroundings, and find the resources they need. For this to happen, we need to know what resources are available, how easy they are to access, how well they meet the needs of older adults, and what programs and services are missing. The ACTing Collectively project is studying how well communities meet the needs of older adults living there. In partnership with Richmond County, Victoria County, and the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, the project is actively recruiting older adults (65+) to participate in short interviews about their lives. I read in Cape Breton Post today , Friday June 9, 2023, that “more seniors sought for Cape Breton research”. This is the first I heard about it. I would be interested in participating but I am hearing impaired and find phone conversations impossible for me. I am not the only senior in this position. That may be an important piece of info for your research! I depend on text, email or face to face conversations! If you plan on including that special group in your research then you need another way to communicate with them besides the phone. We have been excluded from other situations due to our handicap and I’d like to raise this issue. Thanks
