We are so delighted to have been chosen as the recipient of the donations of food and funds raised by the CARP Annual Social.

Freedom Kitchen and Closet is an outreach program of Knox United Church that was founded in October 2019 to supports families and individuals in the community who are experiencing foods insecurity. The support is provided through several programs in partnership with many community organization and businesses.

The Free Monday Meal prepares 400 – 420 meals, for those that are experiencing food insecurity. We also have a home delivery system to ensure that seniors and those with disabilities without transportation have a meal. These deliveries are made by volunteers to 80 households.

The Emergency Food Hamper Program provides 25-30 hampers a month to individuals and families who are dealing with a difficult situation due to unforeseen circumstances or expenses, such as illness, car repairs, death of a loved one, lost employment, etc.

The Food Rescue Program is a partnership through Second Harvest where Freedom Kitchen volunteers picks up food from Sobeys and Cobs Bakery several times a week and provide a barrier free environment where individuals can come to choose varies grocery items free of charge.

In Partnership with the Knights of Columbus, Freedom Kitchen has a clothing closet where warm winter clothing is available free of charge to those in need.
Freedom Kitchen depends solely on donations, and grants from individuals, organization and businesses in the community.

Thank you for choosing Freedom Kitchen and Closet to be the recipient of the CARP Social. Your support is greatly appreciated and all donations go to support those in need in our community.
